How Insynode works
A short guide to the free, privacy-first role-based skills assessment. No sign-up required.
What Insynode is
Insynode is a free online tool that helps you assess your capability for a job role. You choose an occupation (from the ESCO database), rate your skills on a 0 to 5 scale using the Upleashed capability framework, and get a capability score, a skills summary, and pivot potential—roles where your skills transfer well.
Who it is for
Insynode is for anyone who wants to:
- Understand how their skills match a role (career development, job applications, career change)
- Get a clear capability score and evidence for conversations with managers or recruiters
- See pivot potential—other roles that share many of the same skills
- Use a consistent, research-backed framework (Upleashed 0 to 5) without signing up or paying
It is also useful for team leads and learning and development (L&D) as a self-assessment and development-planning aid.
How to use it (3 steps)
-
Search a role. On the Insynode homepage, type an occupation name (e.g. project manager, teacher, data analyst). Select the role that best matches.
-
Rate your skills. For each essential and desired skill shown, rate yourself from 0 to 5 using the Upleashed capability scale (0 = not required, 5 = expert). You can do this in under 3 minutes.
-
Get your score and report. View your overall capability score, essential and desired breakdowns, top strengths, and pivot potential. Download a free PDF report or share a link.
What you get at the end
After rating, you get:
- Capability score
- Pivot potential
- Skills summary
- PDF report
- Shareable link
The capability score is a weighted percentage (essential skills count more than desired). Pivot potential shows other occupations that share many of the same ESCO skills, so you can see career moves with high skill overlap. The PDF is generated in your browser and is print-optimised for A4.
Privacy-first approach
All assessment data is stored locally in your browser (e.g. localStorage). Nothing is sent to a server unless you explicitly generate and share a link. You can clear your data at any time via your browser settings. No account or sign-up is required.
Methodology and data explains what we store and how sharing works. Privacy links to our privacy and data handling information.
Responsible use
Insynode is designed for self-assessment and development support. The capability score and report are based on your own ratings and are not a formal certification or guarantee of competency. Use the outputs as evidence and guidance for career development, learning plans, and conversations—not as the sole basis for hiring or promotion decisions. For more on methodology and limitations, see Methodology and data.
